GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

President’s Day/Valentine’s Day – This weekend is a four-day weekend…no school Friday OR Monday.  You will return Tuesday 2/16 – an A Day.

Library Lovers Month – Come to the Library today Thursday 2/11 for a kiss!  (A candy kiss that is!).  To celebrate Library Lovers Month come to the Library and show us your Public Library Card or write a review of a book you have read recently and get a Hershey’s chocolate kiss.

New Schedules – Remember that you must go to the classes on your schedule.  Do not start attending another class until you have been formally notified by your Counselor of any changes.  If you go to another class without being on the teacher’s roll, you will be marked absent unexcused and have to go to Saturday School.

Winter Formal – Non-student guest applications (the pink forms) were due by yesterday. Today Thursday February 11th is the last day bids will be for sale.  Complete BOTH sides and please return them to Tjoni during Break in the Security Office as soon as possible in order to get the cheapest pricing on your bids.  The following was required to become eligible to attend Formal:

  • All outstanding library, textbook, athletic, and other fees and fines were to be paid.
  • All Saturday School time and Detention hours were to be completed.  FYI - There are no more Saturday Schools left before Formal (we are not having one tomorrow Friday OR Saturday, 2/12 or 13).  Also, if you once attended Soquel High and then left without completing your Saturday School assignment, that assignment is carried over on your return. Again, checking Infinite Campus may prevent being assigned to Saturday School for truancy.
  • Parent/student conferences.
  • No suspensions for the year.

Saturday School –  We are now back to the regular schedule, so be sure to attend at the usual time and in the usual place (8:30a-12:30p in the Library on Saturday).  (Also, see bolded sentence in the above Winter Formal announcement.

Formal – A Knight in Space on February 19th at the Cocoanut Grove.  If you have ASB Stickers, your tickets are discounted when you purchase them at the Attendance Office so you can save money!  Last day to purchase is today Thursday 2/11!!  Go look through the halls for prices and details.

Front Office Aides – Anyone interested in helping out in the Front Office, there are still a few openings left…specifically A2 and A3.  If you have good attendance, no behavior referrals, and grades of As and Bs only, please stop by and see Cheryl.  She’d love to have you sign up.

Electronic Devices – Students, please do not use electronic devices during class time.  If you have an electronic device confiscated by a school official, you must make an appointment for a parent/student conference with an Administrator before it is returned.

IF you HAVE to bring your electronic devices to school, please keep them in a secure place.  Electronic devices are stolen every day, and many of these can be avoided if you take some extra precautions in securing them.  Better yet, leave them at home.

Skateboarders – Now that lockers have been distributed, there is no reason for skateboarding on campus!!

Infinite Campus – Make sure you are checking Infinite Campus for your attendance.  If you neglect to check it, you will be unable to make corrections after three days, and you will have to live with the outcome.  See Ms. Britton or Mr. LaBarre in the Library if you need help with your account.

Grad Night – Tickets will be going on sale each first and third Friday during Brunch and Lunch by the circle out front.  Don’t delay.

Scholarships – If you plan to attend San Jose State University in the Fall, scholarship opportunities are available.  Please see your Counselor for more information.  Application deadline is March 31, 2010.
